Realized that I never linked to the stories in Friday's football supplement. They're a good way to keep your mind off what happened on the last play of Saturday's game.
- Zach Klitzman reports on sophomore linebacker J.D. Whittington, whose father won a national championship with Notre Dame. He also simulates how Penn's quarterbacks will fare this year on EA Sports' NCAA 09, with some results at odds with Saturday's game.
- If you're a betting man, here is a guide to the quirks of winning and losing for the Quakers.
- Matt Flegenheimer reports on the off-the-field duties of senior defensive back Jordan Manning, but stay away from this one if you're squeamish.
- Blogger Sebastien Angel profiles Kyle Olson -- and that's pretty much all we have on him for now, since he threw just three passes on Saturday.
- And the cover story recounts Penn's 24-game winning streak at the beginning of Al Bagnoli's tenure as head coach.
I was wrong. Olson took all six punts for Penn and totaled 230 yards. That's a 38.6-yard average, and he stuck the Wildcats inside their own 20 on half of his punts. Last year, Penn's Anthony Melillo punted just under 2,100 yards for an average of 35.6.
Since the team is not available to the media until the Tuesday after a game, I encourage readers to drop a thought about Saturday's game in the comment box. If you have a question you would like us to ask a coach or player on Tuesday, leave it as well, or send it to scurria@sas.upenn.edu.
