Some interesting numbers on Howard...

There isn't a whole lot of promise for the Quakers coming off that 89-68 loss to Loyola Maryland. But a few stats about Penn's upcoming opponent, Howard, may bode well for the Red and Blue.

58.8 percent of opponents' scoring against the Bison last season came off of 2-point FGs (7th highest in the nation), while only 17.4 percent came from free throws (bottom sixth in the NCAA). While the Quakers' 3-point and free throw shooting has been iffy to terrible this year, they can score inside the arc. Howard will have difficulty taking that away from them, so the Quakers can play to their strengths.
35.2 percent of the Bison scoring came from downtown last season, putting them 32nd in the NCAA. But Penn only allowed the outside shot to account for 27.2 percent of opponents' offense.
Rebounding is not one of the Quakers' strengths. But Howard ranked 313th in keeping opponents off the offensive glass last season, as opponents gobbled up nearly 40% of their carom chances. Lots of second chances are good for any team, and Penn should get their fair share on Saturday.
