Good news for M. Hoops

As Andrew Todres writes today, the Penn men's basketball team has no reason to panic after the blowout loss at Loyola, in which they were down by 30 points with 10 minutes to go.

And finally the team has some good news: no more Geralds.

Guys named "Gerald" have torched the Quakers so far this season. Freshman guard Gerald Colds came off of the bench for Drexel to hit 6 of 9 threes. He scoried 12 of his team's 30 points in the second half and overtime to lead the charge over Penn, all despite playing in his first career game.

In the loss to Loyola, 6-foot-4 guard Gerald Brown dropped 27 points on 8-for-18 shooting and 10 for 11 from the free throw line to lead the Grayhounds. He also added eight rebounds six steals and three assists.

In Penn's final 29 games (23 possible teams) there are no more players named Gerald. However, La Salle has a 6-foot-8 freshman forward by the name of Jerrell Williams, the twin brother of Terrell Williams. The Quakers can only hope they have more than one defender ready for that game - they aren't too good at defending guys with the name "Darnell Harris" either.
