Major headache

It was no Gus Frerotte headbutt celebration, but Joe Anastasio almost suffered an unlikely head injury while outside the lines.

Captain and senior linebacker had no trouble shutting Georgetown out in the first half and holding it to 97 yards rushing on 41 attempts, but the Franklin field ironwork was too much for him.

"Joe almost knocked himself coming here [to the press conference]," coach Al Bagnoli said. "He was standing up on the gator when we went through the gate, he didn't duck and he hit his head on the gate, so I had to send him back in. Good thing his head is hard."

The Red and Blue didn't need to pass the ball very often, but when it did, Bryan Walker consistently found Dan Coleman for the first time in over a year.

Coleman had, what many thought would be a breakout game in last year's opening win over No. 22 Lafayette in which he had 85 yards in the air. But partly due to injuries, the starting wideout hadn't done much since. Last weekend he posted five receptions for 50 yards, (believe it or not a game high for either team), after bringing in only 73 yards receiving in the season-and-a-third in between his two successful games.

The Penn secondary has provided some key, acrobatic interceptions, but at the same time it has allowed a good amount of touchdown passes.

The six picks are nice, but out of the Quakers' nine touchdowns allowed, eight of them came through the air.

On the flip side, the rush defense has been fantastic, and not just in the red zone -- the Quakers are allowing a mere 2.7 yards per carry in 2007.
