Estrada staying alive

Tuesday marked the smaller of the two NFL cut days, and rookie center and Penn grad Sean Estrada got away scratch-free.

Estrada, who converted from guard at Penn to center on the 49ers, was not one of the nine players released as the NFC club trimmed its roster down to 75 players. He outlasted one other offensive lineman, guard Nick Steitz, as well as four fellow rookies.

Still, this doesn't mean too much for Estrada -- San Francisco has another 22 players to release before the start of the season. The 6-foot-4 305-pound undrafted free agent must beat out backup center Tony Wragge -- a four-year veteran out of New Mexico State. Wragge, also a former undrafted free agent, played in 14 games last year, starting four.
