Penn-Princeton smack talk

I'd like to first clarify the nature of the Daily Pennsylvanian and Daily Princetonian columns that appear in today's papers, then move on to the actual game.

First, it was an honor to write the reciprocal column, and I had a lot of fun writing it in a tongue-in-cheek manner (probably more than you'll have reading it). It's not often a sportswriter, much less a college sportswriter, has a chance to make fun of someone so much.

As for the Prince's column, I appreciate the off-the-beaten-path argument they used, even if some of the assertions were questionable.

Either way, I hope they gave our readers a break from the usual -- and that I did a good enough job of trashing Princeton.

On to the game, where as of 4:07 p.m. Penn is a 12.5-point favorite, with an over-under of 110.

I think the safer bet is that not many students will show up tonight.

The first clue that ticket sales weren't going well was the giveaway from the Athletic Department: Buy a ticket for Penn vs. Princeton, get a free ticket for Penn vs. Someone-you-don't-care-about.

Then the reality of $25 tickets set in. (To which I would say: Why did the Athletic Department think people would pay that much more for 1-5 Princeton?)

Then it happened to snow today.

I'll reserve judgement until game time, but I'll say this: Good thing Princeton's students never show up anyway.
