Anything but Uniform: Princeton

Here's one final angle that hasn't been covered on The Buzz today in anticipation of the Penn-Princeton game.

The Tigers do not have many advantages coming into the Palestra tonight, and their uniforms do not help. Princeton went from wearing this simple uniform to this slightly fancier outfit. It's the same template as Penn saw earlier this year in UTEP and Columbia. I don't mind the design in general, but I have two problems with Princeton's new uniforms.

First, the word "Princeton" was changed from arched lettering to straight lettering. That is too long to fit across a jersey. Second, the "P" on the shorts, seen here, looks to be the same as the "P" on the jersey. I don't understand why the Tigers could not have put their actual logo here rather than the cheap and less aesthetic option. But who knows.

One final thought - Yesterday during practice fellow DP reporter Matt Meltzer and I were asked to try to find out from Penn coach Glen Miller who his fifth starter was going to be tonight, so that the editors could put in a graph with the starters. Miller, who has changed his fifth starter a number of times, laughed, and said we should make a pie chart with the faces of all the candidates (Egee, McMahon, Kach, Smith). Two of them got in the actual paper today. So we'll see who gets the nod come tip-off.
