Penn-Temple notes

Another crazy win for Penn, executing down the stretch and making plays it would not have made in the last several years. But the great night was marred somewhat by the court-rushing by the Penn students.

I thought everything else the Penn students did was great, from the paper mustaches before the game to the rollouts. But you do not rush the court in a game you are favored. Unless that game wins you the national championship. You want to look like you've been there before.

In other news, where have you gone Steve Danley? The senior forward has not scored in double figures in four straight games, and has not had a field goal in the last two. He has also gotten in foul trouble in the last two games, hurting his cause. But he looks lost in the post and has not been doing well on the box-outs.

But some Ivy games against inferior centers (Cornell and Columbia have arguably the two best frontcourts in the Ivy League), should help Danley out in the next couple weeks. Penn needs him to help take some of the load off Ibrahim Jaaber, Mark Zoller and Brian Grandieri.

Speaking of box outs I am going to keep track of this next game, but I've noticed that very rarely does anyone on the Quakers, or the Ivy League for that matter, actually ever box out. The number of offensive rebounds given up because of no box-outs are staggering. You'll hear more about that next week.
