Anything but Uniform: Navy

Penn hasn't visited the Naval Academy since 1992, but is playing the Midshipmen for the sixth time on Pearl Harbor Day, but just the third one of those at Navy. In case you were wondering, Penn is 4-1 against Navy on Dec. 7, in a series that has been played 77 times so far, as the two teams used to play each other almost every year until 1979, and sometimes twice in a year.

That happens to be the most games that Penn has played against a non-Ivy opponent, just edging out Saint Joseph's by two -- although unless Penn continues to play Navy, that lead will soon disappear.

But back to the important stuff, the uniforms. The game is only the third time this year that the Quakers will be in blue, the first time in about a month (since they were in blue against Syracuse and St. Francis).

So in their home whites, the Mids look like this.

It'a a relatively simple look, which is what I want from my service academies, and actually is the same Nike template that Penn saw earlier this year in UTEP, and will see later in two Ivy teams (don't want to ruin the surprise come Ivy season, you'll have to wait and find out who they are).

This uniform is also a huge upgrade from this hideous (especially the color) Drexel look-alike outfit the Midshipmen wore last year (and hopefully not this year).
