Referee quote of the millenium

It's not often that a crowd at a football game collectively laughs. It's even more rare for that to happen because of something an official said. And it's almost preposterous to see that happen when it's a penalty on the home team.

But that's what happened late in Saturday's 22-13 Penn win against Harvard. The call, courtesy of referee Jack Winter:

"Prior to the snap, false start, entire offensive line, five yard penalty, replay the down."

I'm surprised the crowd even caught on, but they quickly whooped it up after hearing a gem like that.

Considering that Winter had previously called a delay of game on "The University of Pennsylvania," not just the football team's offense, I guess anything was possible on Saturday. Including an unexpected Quakers win.
