FINAL: PENN 80, MONMOUTH 66: Mike Kach's deuce is the last basket of the game. The Quakers win comfortably, spurred by a career-best performance from Zoller. Goodbye from the Palestra.

2:40 left, 75-59 Penn: The student section waits for a couple of Ibby Jaaber free throws, and then gives a supplementary verse of Rock and Roll Part 2. It's over.

4:11 left, 73-59 Penn: Monmouth resorts to the press, but Penn beats it easily as McMahon lays in for two. The Hawks call for time, but McMahon burns them again on the next possession.

5:20 left, 69-53 Penn: McMahon makes consecutive assists to Zoller and Grandieri.

7:34 left, 65-50 Penn: This has to be the most vocal (and vulgar) visitors' section I've seen at the Palestra. Despite its chants of "airball" for a wayward Darren Smith shot, the Quakers are in comfortable control.

9:00 left, 62-50 Penn: He wants it, too. Zoller takes a three off an inbounds play and airmails it badly. Luckily Penn corrals the rebound and Grandieri goes to the hoop for two.

11:13 left, 60-48 Penn: Two more from Mark Zoller gives him 25 on the night by my count. 26 (at Harvard last year) is his career high.

12:41 left, 58-43 Penn: A Brennan Votel layup from a Kevin Egee assist adds more fuel to a 15-3 run. Penn is still dominating on the boards, and Monmouth calls for time. If they don't get this stopped soon, it'll be too late.

16:39 left, 51-41 Penn: Mark Zoller puts in eight straight to stem the tide. If a baseline three hadn't rattled out, it would have been 11 in a row.

18:30 left, 43-40 Penn: Monmouth has responded in the second half with a layup and an and-one. They're within three for the first time in a while.

Mike Kach is making his season debut tonight; he's played four minutes but has all zeros on the box score.

Some stats at the break: Mark Zoller leads the Quakers with 15 points and perfect 6-6 shooting from the floor. Ibrahim Jaaber has five assists and three steals, while Brian Grandieri has 10 points.

Marques Alston leads Monmouth with 11.

HALFTIME: 43-35 Penn. The Quakers are crushing the larger Hawks on the boards, 19-10 (9-2 offensive).

Hello from the Palestra, where Penn is looking to extend its record to 4-2 against Monmouth. 7-foot-2 behemoth John Bunch is in street clothes, presumably because of injury, and Penn is leading the Hawks 43-33 with less than a minute to go in the first half.
