Football loses another heartbreaker

 

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Penn dropped a tight 28-27 decision to Cornell here on Saturday in the two teams' season finales, as the Quakers fell to 5-5 overall and 3-4 in the Ivy League, tied for fourth in the league with the Big Red.

Penn led 14-7 going into the fourth quarter, but Cornell scored three times, including an 88-yard kickoff return. Penn answered with less than two minutes to play on Joe Sandberg's fourth touchdown run of the game, but tried a fake extra point which failed. The Quakers got the ball back with about a minute to play, but could not advance past midfield, as a big sack with 30 seconds to go sealed Penn's fate.
