Happy Wednesday! Here's hoping this edition of Daybreak will bring some sunshine into your inbox during a week of April showers. 

A Wharton first year founded a nonprofit for Philadelphia youth, and the DP took a look at Penn's historic run to the NCAA Final Four in 1979.

But first, multiple Penn students shared their frustrations with off-campus housing conditions and discussed communication issues with their landlords.

Penn students dissatisfied with off-campus housing

While many students choose to move off-campus for the second half of their time at Penn, some students have faced issues with pests, water leaks, and communications with landlords. Multiple students shared their frustrations with their landlords with the DP, detailing instances of inconsistent communication.

Several students also criticized Penn's role in managing off-campus housing, citing connections between the University and several property management companies.

  Veil@Penn, a student-developed dating app that matches students anonymously, launched on March 29.

In 2018, the DP reported that Graduate Employees Together-University of Pennsylvania refocused its campaign for change for graduate students after withdrawing a petition for a union vote. In March, GET-UP released a union bargaining survey, and the group will vote on whether or not to unionize later this month.
