A Penn-pioneered cancer treatment is showing promising results, and a Wharton School professor was named an AI2050 Early Career Fellow to support his work with artificial intelligence.  

But first — in light of Congress' scrutiny of Penn in recent months — the DP analyzed the history of Penn alumni and affiliates within Congress. The analysis found that Penn alumni or affiliates have served in every Congress since the foundation of the United States.

Penn, in Washington: The DP's analysis

Multiple congressional committees have investigated Penn in recent months, including threats to the University's tax-exempt status and federal funding. In response, the DP looked at the prevalence of Penn alumni and affiliates on Capitol Hill since the nation's founding.

An expert cited Penn's strong network of wealthy donors — who can contribute to candidates' campaign funding — as a factor in the University's strong representation.

  Two years after its founding upon Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the Penn Ukrainian Student Association reflected on its work to celebrate and preserve Ukrainian culture.

  An early-stage Penn clinical trial showed that CAR-T therapy showed promise in reducing glioblastoma tumors. 

  Wharton professor Daniel Rock was named one of 19 AI2050 Early Career Fellows, joining an artificial intelligence research cohort funded by Schmidt Sciences.

In 2015, the DP previewed that year's admissions cycle in the days leading up to the release of regular decisions. Earlier this month, the DP reported that Penn received a record number of applications to the Class of 2028 — despite the administrative turmoil on campus — and regular decision results will be released later this week.
