Ibrahim Bakri reflected on his new role as associate director of the Andrea Mitchell Center for the Study of Democracy, and 1950 College graduate Roy Vagelos and wife Diana made the largest donation to Penn since the resignation of former President Liz Magill — whose leadership prompted many major donors to pull their gifts to the university.

But first, the DP obtained a letter signed by more than 80 Penn faculty suggesting that the summons of a Penn student by the Center for Community Standards and Accountability raises concerns about the University's commitment to open expression on campus.

Faculty express concern to admin. about student discipline case

A Penn student was reported to CSA by the Division of Public Safety for adhering stickers related to the Freedom School for Palestine teach-in to signs and light poles around campus. The 80+ faculty who signed the letter further alleged that the summons violates University Guidelines on Open Expression and expressed concern over how and why DPS identified them in the first place.

In 2010, the DP reported that Penn student Neil Gajare — who was charged with arson in connection to an April 2009 fire in Rodin College House — had his case dismissed due to a lack of prosecution.
