Penn successfully reaccredited for the next decade

Penn graduates can hang their degrees with pride for another ten years, thanks to the University’s reaccreditation earlier this summer. On June 26, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education reaffirmed the University’s accreditation after a rigorous process rooting back to October 2012.

PennPraxis leader to head to Drexel

Drexel University will announce to trustees and senior staff tomorrow that Harris Steinberg, currently executive director of PennPraxis, will head the Lindy Institute for Urban Innovation, according to an article in Philadelphia Magazine.

Board Chair David L. Cohen recognized the detrimental health effects of tobacco, but said that it does not constitute a “moral evil.” According to Penn’s divestment policy, areas being considered for divestment must qualify as “a moral evil implicating a core University value that is creating a substantial social injury.” Cohen also stressed that the Trustees are obligated to the growth and protection of the University’s endowment.

On Monday at the White House Summit on Working Families, former University President and current President of the Rockefeller Foundation Judith Rodin shed light on the payment gap between male and female faculty members after she was asked if women always know and communicate their value.“When I was offered the Presidency of Penn...I think the board believed that I would and should feel extremely grateful,” Rodin said. “They offered me a salary and I went home overnight and started to get really angry.”
