On Oct. 8, 2005, all that Penn football player Greg Ambrogi had to worry about was a slippery Franklin Field turf, and even that was working out in his favor. The Quakers were facing Bucknell in a pouring rain that only got worse as the game went on, and in the second quarter, Bucknell’s quarterback fumbled a snap. Ambrogi recovered the ball in the end zone for a Quakers touchdown.




Penn alum aiding Malaysia airplane recovery effort

You may not know Mike Glynn, but you definitely know what he’s been up to. Following a four-year Penn men’s lacrosse career that he now calls “unremarkable,” the Class of 2008 graduate became a U.S. naval aviator and is now deployed to Perth, Australia to search for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which has been missing since March 8. Glynn has been flying one of two P-8 Poseidons deployed to Perth in the last three weeks. For the last two weeks, Glynn has been supporting search and recovery operations in Perth as well.

Penn basketball coach Jerome Allen is facing heightened criticism after amassing a 16-40 record the past two seasons. Most longtime supporters of the Penn men’s basketball program are displeased with the program’s results, and some are actively calling for his firing or resignation on social media. In light of the mounting pressure on Allen and his program, The Daily Pennsylvanian reached out to several prominent donors and members of the Penn Athletics Board of Overseers for their reactions to the state of Penn basketball.

With Penn Athletics poised to name a new athletic director this semester following Bilsky’s 20-year tenure, The Daily Pennsylvanian reached out to several prominent donors and members of the Penn Athletics Board of Overseers for their perspectives on the athletic director search.
