When we go abroad, that view quite literally changes. It begins to anchor us to these new and vastly different places. College junior Jamie Brensilber had just arrived in Paris when she was met with a list of rules her 80-year-old host mother had prepared for her. In the mornings, she would only be able to shower between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. She was not to touch the washing machine. She should not interrupt her host mother’s favorite TV show.

UPDATED: Suicide confirmed in death of Penn junior Timothy Hamlett

On Monday, June 1, the New York City Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed in a media release that former College junior Timothy Hamlett’s death was a “suicide by drowning.” Hamlett’s body was found in the Hudson river on Friday, May 29. His mother, Katherine Hamlett, believes that her son committed suicide by jumping from the George Washington Bridge.
