Under the guidance of 2017 College graduates Alexa Salas and Camilo Toro and 2017 Nursing graduate Yaneli Arizmendi, roughly 15 Penn students began serving as tutors and mentors this week for the local after-school leadership program Lanzando Líderes.

Hundreds of students crowded into a room in Houston Hall on Sept. 14 to attend an informational session on the status of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. At the event, which started at noon, Penn administrators expressed their support for students, presented Penn's resources and answered questions that audience members submitted anonymously on index cards.






In engaging new students, minority groups find success in drawing on University resources

Many students groups on campus are highly selective and hierarchical. Minority coalition groups strive to break this mold by providing a more inclusive community. They work particularly hard at the beginning of the year, using a range of strategies to engage minority students who are new to Penn.
