The college experience teaches you many skills, from how to take notes to pulling off all nighters to surviving on a diet of takeout and microwave noodles. One set of skills, though, that our educational institutions often struggle to get right is academic writing, and Penn is no exception. So, why, even at a university like Penn, are students still struggling with this fundamental skill? 



In Photos: Natives at Penn's 13th annual powwow celebrates organization's 30th anniversary

On Feb. 2, 1994, Natives at Penn — known then as Six Directions — was recognized as an official member of the United Minorities Council. 30 years later, Natives at Penn and the Greenfield Intercultural Center (GIC) celebrated their respective 30th and 40th anniversary at Penn's 13th annual Powwow in the Hall of Flags. The powwow was open to the public and featured singing, intertribal dancing, and Indigenous vendors. 


Penn baseball has two players receive Ivy recognition ahead of second weekend of Ivy Play

This past weekend, Penn baseball's senior right-handed pitcher Cole Zaffiro was named the conference’s Ivy League Pitcher of the Week, and freshman outfielder Gavin Collins was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week. Both of these awards come off the heels of Penn's impressive sweep over Brown. The series saw the Red and Blue come out on top in highly competitive, low-scoring games. Penn baseball’s weekend success can be attributed to the team as a whole in addition to both of these highlighted players.
