I found out I was pregnant in a Starbucks bathroom, only a few weeks after starting my first year at Penn. I was 18, and I did everything to keep it a secret. Buying a test on campus risked fellow students seeing me, so I walked about 15 blocks downtown to the Rittenhouse CVS. After that, I headed into the Starbucks across the street, where I remained, hyperventilating, until my tears subsided enough to be able to walk outside again.

Instead of stopping in Chipotle to grab a quick bite in between classes, College sophomore Kelly Rhodes takes SEPTA to Reading Terminal Market. Rhodes, who is also training for a marathon, tries to buy all her produce and ingredients at Reading Terminal in order to cook healthy meals for herself.

Looking at a model from behind his easel, College senior Jesse Rappaport not only paints what he sees but also draws inspiration from knowledge gained while flipping through his human anatomy textbooks. As a fine arts major also taking premed courses, Rappaport hopes that he will stand out as a unique candidate when applying to medical school. Rapport laughed while describing himself as an artist studying premed as “on the side.”
