Off campus Greeks shake administrative oversight

Though Greek life has seen two organizations go off campus within the past year, the administration will not get in the way of their formation. As of now, there are a total of seven Greek organizations that function without the recognition of the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, most recently including the former Alpha Chi Omega and Pi Kappa Phi.



Healthcare nonprofit seeks to connect cancer patients with Penn students

David Warren, co-founder of the nonprofit organization TaketheFight, visited Penn on Wednesday to recruit students for a two-year fellowship program launched last week. TaketheFight aims to provide moral support to cancer patients by pairing them with college students who become responsible for helping the patients stay informed about when their doctor’s appointments are, helping them remember what medications to take and helping them fill out their paperwork.








Gay rights activist Larry Kramer talks homophobia, film and a cure for AIDS

The Penn LGBTQ Center for QPenn brought gay-rights and AIDS activist, playwright and author Larry Kramer to Penn on Thursday night. Kramer is the founder of the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power, or ACT UP, a protest organization that fights for the rights of gay men and raises awareness for the importance of AIDS funding. His most famous novel is called "Faggots," which is known as a provocative depiction of gay culture in New York City before the late 1970s AIDS epidemic.
