Sohum Daftary (left) and Johnathan Chen (right), M&T '19Daftary: “I just hope tomorrow we can just start talking about something else. There are so many things that matter like local issues that really shape the services that people get. The bigger impact and higher return in terms of voting is taking part in local elections because these guys and girls can figure out more specific, targeted needs, and we overlook that. I hope that the excitement for this national election will then translate to more local civic action and create more micro-level change that will affect people faster."Chen: “I want whoever our next president is to put more emphasis on more niche things but long term ideas. I have always been a huge space enthusiast, and I’d love to see us at least try and figure out some sort of plan to get humans past the Earth’s orbit. We have the technology to do it; it’s just a matter of priorities, and I think if the president sets the right tone and right message, we can get there."
