Penn field hockey’s winning percentage took a long-term nosedive when the Quakers began playing on SprinTurf at Franklin Field in 2004. Penn’s lack of AstroTurf normalized burdens in scheduling, recruiting and gameplay that other Ivies did not have to deal with.
