The Penn Museum opened a new exhibit Saturday showcasing its extensive Egyptian collection, allowing visitors to see how artifacts are conserved.The three-part exhibit, titled “Ancient Egypt: From Discovery and Display,” features more than 200 artifacts, many of which have have never been shown to the public before.

Members of the Class of 2019 attended Penn's 263rd Commencement ceremony on May 20. Award-winning author and criminal justice reform advocate Bryan Stevenson was the commencement speaker, and Penn President Amy Gutmann delivered a speech centered around the HBO series Game of Thrones.

Members of the Class of 2021 gathered on College Green to attend the U-Night, a new tradition for Penn sophomores planned by Class Board 2021. The event featured free food, multiple raffles, speeches from Provost Wendell Pritchett and Penn President Amy Gutmann, and a lantern-lighting ceremony to symbolize class unity and celebrate the transition to junior year.

For the first time since 1986, Penn men's lacrosse won the outright Ivy League regular season title. The No. 5 Quakers dominated Dartmouth, 22-6, ending the season with an undefeated 6-0 record in Ivy Play. This is the first outright title for the Red and Blue since 1986, and the third in program history.

The March to End Rape Culture returned to Philadelphia this past weekend after an eventful week of news with the Brett Kavanaugh hearing and Bill Cosby's sentencing. This annual event raises awareness about rape culture — a culture where sexual violence is accepted as a part of everyday life — and its effects across society. The event began on Saturday around 11 a.m. and some of the speakers included activist and filmmaker Nuala Cabral, members of Galaei, a queer Latinx social justice organization, and speakers from the Coalition to Abolish Death by Incarceration.

Students from across the world gathered on Penn's campus this weekend for 36 hours of collaboration, creation, and coding. PennApps, founded in the fall of 2009, was the nation's first student-run college hackathon. Teams of up to four people work on innovative projects that combine elements of web development, mobile applications, drones, and more.

The Perelman Center for Political Science and Economics, a new building that houses the Political Science Department and Economics Department, has officially opened this August, several months after the original May 2018 completion estimate. Across from the Penn Bookstore, the building contains a 120-seat auditorium, classrooms, seminar rooms, faculty offices, conference rooms, lounge spaces, and undergraduate study spaces.
On August 27, Amy Gutmann officially welcomed the Class of 2022 to Penn at Convocation. The event, which is attended by all students in the freshmen class, featured performances by the Quakernotes and Glee Club, as well as remarks from Provost Wendell Pritchett.

Students in Penn's class of 2022 continued to move into their on-campus residences on Wednesday. Penn President Amy Gutmann, as well as the Phillie Phanatic mascot, were spotted welcoming students outside of Hill College House and the Quad.

On May 14, members of the Class of 2018 celebrated their Commencement at Franklin Field. This year's Commencement featured NBC News anchor Andrea Mitchell.
Franklin Field hosted the 124th running of the Penn Relays. People traveled from around the world to participate in this 3-day track and field event, which featured high school, college, and many Olympic athletes.
On April 26th, President Amy Gutmann welcomed the Class of 2019 to senior year. The moving-up tradition has been celebrated at Penn since 1916. For the full album of photos, check out the DP's Facebook album.
