This Is Your Fault, Mark Ruffalo

The last week has been a difficult one, reckoning with the results of the presidential election. Donald Trump won Pennsylvania by some 68,236 votes, less than one point according to NPR. That leaves us with plenty of questions, but we'll just ask this one: what the hell, Mark Ruffalo?
Some of you may remember that Mark Ruffalo was supposed to come speak on behalf of Penn Dems to encourage voting, but he canceled. It's hard not to wonder how different things might have been if the Ruffalo hadn't chosen to go to Standing Rock instead of Philadelphia.
Yes, stopping the pipeline at Standing Rock is a good cause. Yes, Spotlight was a good movie. A great movie, even. But that doesn't excuse Mark Ruffalo. His choice may just delivered our country into the hands of a despot.
