Peter Greenaway Is Coming To Penn

greenaway

You may not know his name, but trust us, this British filmmaker is a BFD. And if you don't go to one of the Cinema Studies department's events this week in his honor, you're going to be kicking yourself like you were when you found out Werner Herzog came to Penn in '07 and you didn’t  show up! (You probably didn't go here yet, but that's no excuse.)

Greenaway's run kicks off tonight at 5 with a few screenings, featuring his most commercially successful film to date: the extremely controversial The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover. Fans of Helen Mirren, cannibalism, and long movie titles take note.

After the screening, you might be having some strange, confusing, scary thoughts. Luckily, Greenaway will be there to guide you through this period. He's also giving a lecture for Penn Design on Wednesday and participating in a discussion at the Slought Foundation on Friday. Think, then Fling.
