The Coalition of Workers at Penn — a recently formed coalition of several unions across Penn’s campus — held a press conference in front of College Hall on Thursday, and New York Times bestselling author Celeste Ng spoke to the Penn community about her journey as an author, her struggles with mental health, and Asian American representation in literature.
But first, members of two of Penn's largest “build clubs” alleged that they receive inadequate support and unfair treatment from Engineering administrators.
Members of the student-led Penn Aerospace Club and Penn Aerial Robotics came forward to describe a lack of club space, as well as prohibitions on testing and machining laboratory use, obstacles they argued are not shared by other Engineering clubs.
Five students who spoke with the DP denounced what they said was inadequate support and unfair treatment from Engineering administrators. They also emphasized the importance of build clubs — both to their Penn experience and professional futures.
Penn announced regular decision admission results for the Class of 2028 after receiving a record number of applications.
