After upsetting No. 11 Princeton for the first time in 21 years, Penn freshman defenseman Maxx Meyer — who was not yet born the last time the Quakers beat the rival Tigers — was awarded Ivy League Rookie of the Week.
Meyer forced two turnovers and tallied his first collegiate career goal against Princeton in the 8-3 win Saturday.
*** Newly crowned ECAC gymnastics Athlete of the Year, Dana Bonincontri was selected to compete in the all-around at the Ann Arbor NCAA regional, Sat. April 2 in Michigan. She was one of five competitors chosen.
Bonincontri won the all-around at the ECAC Championships last weekend, her fifth first-place finish in the event this season. Penn’s last NCAA qualifier was Jordan Brewer in 2009.
