Penn quarterback Billy Ragone was named one of four finalists in the running for Ivy League football Player of the Year on Tuesday. A sophomore, Ragone is the youngest of the four finalists.
The Cheshire, Conn. native, is going up against senior running back Gino Gordon of Harvard, junior running back Nick Schwieger of Dartmouth and senior wideout Trey Peacock of Princeton.
In his first full year of collegiate action, Ragone led the Quakers to their second straight Ivy League title and a 9-1 season. Ragone’s speed and rushing capabilities allowed him to pick up over 500 yards on the ground this season, good for fifth in the Ancient Eight. He ran for seven touchdowns and threw for six more.
The award will be announced at 11:30 a.m., Monday in New York, N.Y.
Former Penn linebacker Jake Lewko split the award last year with Brown’s Buddy Farnham.
