Oh Hey There, Designs

This morning, the 2011 class board announced that voting on Hey Day t-shirt designs is underway. With 15 designs to choose from, this year's crop has got a lot to offer.

But, what's with this facade of democracy the board is presenting? In an e-mail to the class listserve, President Adam Behrens wrote, "final vote tallies will not be the final deciding factor in the selection of the design winner, and thus the website will not limit voting to one vote per person." No one person-one vote! That's a little Boss Tweed, if you ask us. Whatever, the designs are still untainted, and you can vote for your favorite one (or four) here. Voting ends this Friday, March 26, and design submissions will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis until this Thursday at midnight.

Some commentary on a few of the designs after the jump.

"Wii Seniors" We like the word play and homage to video games. But Big Ben needs a little more Founding Father and a little less granny.

"Stay Messy My Friends" Dos Equis' "Most Interesting Man In the World" makes another appearance. First, UA Prez hopeful Matt Amalfitano's campaign video, and now this design. We can only imagine what's next. Amy Gutmann's new catchphrase? "I don't always pose for pictures with students on Halloween. But when I do, I prefer controversy."

"Hey Day Stick" Gaga--ooh lala, indeed. Thanks to the designer of this shirt, we will never think of canes the same way again. You dirty.

"Multilingual Balloon" In what language is "hey" translated as "halla?" We want to learn that one. Halla, halla , halla. Also, fly word balloon.

"7 (Z) Eleven?" What's going on here? Why does the "7" look like a "Z"? It looks like a "Z", right? Are we too cool for the help of Big Bird?
