Ignorance and redemption

Remember last year when the USA dropped the baton to let the Jamaicans win the 4x400-meter USA vs. the World relay?

Wallace Spearmon doesn't.

At yesterday's USA vs. the World press conference, the first-year pro who will run in today's 4x400, was asked if the team was blocking last year out of its collective memory.

"I actually didn't know about it until you just said it," the former Arkansas standout said.

But he won't have to look far to find someone who would remember.

Spearmon will anchor the relay for USA Red, which will be led by Tyree Washington who tripped and lost the baton in the rain last year.

He'll have a chance for redemption at 6 p.m.
