Having yet to drop a single match this season, Penn women’s tennis (3-0) looks to keep its record unblemished in their last home contest of the winter.

They’ll look to give the visiting Stony Brook Seawolves (0-0) a frosty reception when the two teams square off at 4 p.m. at Levy Tennis Pavilion for only the second time in the program’s history. The Seawolves are the reigning American East Champs and feature America East Player of the Year senior Nini Lagvilava and Rookie of the Year sophomore Polina Movchan.

Working in Penn’s favor is the aftermath of Winter Storm Nemo, which caused the cancelation of Stony Brook’s scheduled matches prior to this weekend. So the Seawolves could be rusty.

The former of the two players along with her doubles partner, freshman Jackie Altansarnai, received a drubbing at the hands of the No. 22 Quakers doubles team of Sol Eskenazi and Sonya Latycheva, 8-1, in November’s Northeast Regional Championship.

The Red and Blue will look for more of the same this time around from the No. 1 duo in the Northeast region, who have yet to face any major competition this year.

Coming off of a dismantling of the defending Atlantic 10 champions Richmond last week, the team will look to keep its momentum heading into a six-game southern school road swing.

When Penn and Stony Brook last met, the Quakers lost a close one, 4-3. But both teams feature mostly different rosters now.
