Florida won’t be all fun, as Penn women's tennis faces unique squads

Coming off their first two losses of the season, the Penn women’s tennis team will move to warmer climates in search of better luck on the horizon.

The Quakers (4-2) will travel to DeLand, Fla. during the break to take on James Madison (2-3) this Sunday and Stetson (3-1) the following day.

In order to come away with a pair of victories, Penn will almost certainly need another strong performance from No. 1 Sol Eskenazi, who, despite the team’s losses, was the only Quakers player to win both of her matches this past weekend.

Both teams will present a unique set of challenges for the Red and Blue.

Despite a decidedly pedestrian record, James Madison is not a squad to look past. The Dukes took a second game off a No. 37 William & Mary squad, the same one that later topped Penn, 6-1, on Saturday.

Stetson, meanwhile, will enjoy the benefits of playing on its home court.

After beginning the season 4-0, Penn dropped its first two road matches of the year against a couple of Colonial Athletic Association opponents — William & Mary and Old Dominion.

These two matches come right in the middle of a string of six contests that will keep the Quakers away from Levy Pavilion for over a month.
