The No. 61 men’s tennis team continued Ivy League play this weekend as it traveled north to take on Brown and Yale.
The Quakers defeated the Bears, 4-3, but fell to the Bulldogs, 5-2.
Penn (11-3, 1-2 Ivy) was looking for its first Ivy victory after dropping a close match to Princeton last week.
For the first time this season, Penn lost all three doubles matches in the loss to Yale.
In singles play, No. 1 Hicham Laalej was victorious, taking a three-set match against the reigning Ivy player of the year, Marc Powers. Laalej’s victory was one of two wins in singles play.
After losing to Yale (9-8, 1-1) Friday, the Quakers eked out their first conference win in over the Bears (13-4, 0-2) in Providence, R.I.
Penn was unable to capture the doubles point but managed to take four out of six singles matches — including a third-set tiebreaker victory from junior Phil Law — to clinch the victory.
Freshman Nikola Kocovic emerged as the lone member of the Red and Blue with a perfect 3-0 Ivy record.
