Facing Cornell in Penn’s last home match of the season, the Big Red proved to be as tough as their undefeated record showed, winning the match, 5-2.
Seniors Dmitry Bury, Zach Gorn and Hicham Laalej all played their last matches in a Quakers uniform. Laalej was the only one able to come away with a victory in singles play defeating Andy Gauthier, 7-5, 6-2, at No. 1 singles.
The Quakers’ only other win on the singles side came from junior Phil Law at No. 3. Law won his fourth straight Ivy match in three sets over Mirza Kils.
On the doubles side, the duo of Laalej and sophomore Mark Milbrandt was also victorious.
A similar performance plagued the Quakers on Sunday as they lost to Columbia by the same score, 5-2.
The squad had a chance midway through the match, trailing, 3-2, but could not win the next two matches.
Penn finished the season with a 12-7 record, going 1-6 in Ivy League play.
