The Penn men’s squash team geared up for Ivy League championships by taking on one of the country’s top teams.

But the Quakers (4-8, 1-5 Ivy) fell to No. 4 Rochester (10-3) at home Sunday, 7-2.

The Red and Blue were looking to turn around their recent misfortunes, as they entered the day on a four-match losing streak.

Freshman Daniel Judd and junior Trevor McGuinness were Penn’s sole victors, as they defeated their opponents, 3-2 and 3-1, respectively.

This marked the last regular season match for William Browne, James Clark and Porter Drake, the senior leaders for the men’s team.

“They played the three, four and five positions today, and Rochester is very strong in those spots,” coach Jack Wyant said.

However, one match cannot define the seasons and careers that Browne, Clark and Drake had.

“They’ve been great all year and have shown tremendous effort,” Wyant said. “They have paved the way for success in the future.”

Even though Wyant is disappointed that his team is placed into the second division for the team championships in Cambridge, Mass., he is still looking forward to them — for more than one reason.

Wyant and his wife are expecting the birth of their second son sometime in between the men’s team championships and the individual championships.

“It is sure to be hectic,” Wyant said.
