Though the men’s soccer team saw mixed results over the weekend, Penn still managed to hang on to its spot in the top 25.
After offsetting its first loss of the season (a 1-0 loss to unranked Villanova) with a 3-1 victory over Georgetown, the Quakers fell three spots to No. 25 in the most recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll.
The Quakers (5-1-0) are one of three Ivy programs in the top 25. Harvard, previously ranked No. 6, fell to No. 21 after falling 2-0 to California, Santa Barbara and tying New Mexico, 0-0.
Brown rounded out the Ivy contingent, making its first appearance in the polls at No. 22.
Individually, two of Penn’s players have also made strides to the top of national rankings.
Freshman forward Stephen Baker, who has scored six of Penn’s 14 goals, is currently tied for third in the nation in goals scored.
Baker also sits atop the Ivy League in total points. With 14, he is eight points ahead of teammate Travis Cantrell and Brown junior Sean Rosa.
Additionally, goalie Ben Berg, who has not allowed more than one goal in any of the Quakers’ six games, is ranked 22nd in the country in save percentage (.871).
