On the heels of last week's 54-21 win over Mansfield, Penn looks to build off its momentum Friday night as it welcomes Cornell, the only other Ivy League team in the Collegiate Sprint Football League, to Franklin Field for its home opener.

The men's team is red hot right now, winning its fifth straight match and ninth straight home match in a row. The Quakers soared to victory, crushing Ivy-League rival Princeton 6-1 at home. On the women's side, Penn struggled, falling to the Tigers on the road 2-5.

The women (29-11, 5-4 Ivy) had a very strong performance, going 4-0 in the invitational. The Quakers defeated Johns Hopkins 19-8, St. Johns 17-10, Temple 15-12 and Princeton 14-13.

Penn men's lacrosse overcame a hot start from Michigan to win its season opener at home, 12-9.

Penn fencing had an up and down weekend against some of the top fencing programs in the country.   The Quakers (11-4 for both men and women) had a busy weekend in State College, Pa. The men and women defeated North Carolina and Haverford but fell short to Columbia, Penn State, and Duke.

In Penn wrestling's opening weekend with duals, the Quakers  finished 3-1 with wins over Campbell, The Citadel, and Hofstra, while suffering a loss against Rider.

Penn (2-2, 0-1 Ivy) visit Columbia (4-0, 1-0) on Saturday in a critically important bounce back opportunity. Penn has a twenty-game winning streak against the Lions, and the Quakers hope to continue this trend this weekend.

On Saturday, Penn field hockey fell to No. 14 Harvard 6-0 on Berylson Field as the  Crimson scored four goals in the first half and finished the game with six different goal scorers on 17 total shots. Junior goalkeeper Libby Manela earned the shutout in goal for her eighth win of the season.

The final year is bittersweet for senior Quakers, a fact known by midfielder Gina Guccione, forward Rachel Huang, back Jasmine Li and goalkeeper Liz Mata.

The Quakers (1-3) have an exciting weekend ahead of them as the team gets closer to Ivy League play in two weeks. Penn has its first road game of the year on Friday, traveling only a few streets away to play Drexel (3-3) as part of Philadelphia Field Hockey Night. Two days later, the Quakers will return to Ellen Vagelos Field to host Iowa (3-4).

Quaker teams and fans can start setting their calendars for fall sports’ seasons. Penn athletic teams have continued to release 2017-2018 schedules throughout the summer. Student-athletes and coaches can begin gameplan preparations and fans can clear their schedules for all the marquee games.

Penn football, women’s soccer, and field hockey all recently released their fall 2017 schedules. The Quakers are looking forward to a competitive and successful season across the athletics department.

The bats are coming alive at the right time for Penn softball. The Red and Blue defeated Drexel 10-3 on Wednesday and can now shift their focus onto the weekend as they await Ivy League-leading Princeton for a crucial set of doubleheaders around the diamond.

A lot can change in the Ivy League from year to year, and with last year's league leaders coming to town, it looks like Penn softball is on the better side of the new Ancient Eight order. The Quakers begin conference play with contests against Harvard and Dartmouth this weekend.

The Quakers beat Lafayette in four straight games this weekend at home. Penn (8-9) swept the Leopards (2-22) in back to back doubleheaders at MeikleJohn Stadium, outscoring them 22-7 in the process.

Penn softball will host Rider on Saturday in a doubleheader, assuming weather permits the games to be played. The Quakers (4-6) were supposed to have their home opener this Wednesday against Lafayette, but that doubleheader was postponed because of inclement weather. The makeup date has not yet been announced.

Many Penn students will be basking in the Florida sun this Spring Break, and the Quakers on the diamond will be no exception. Penn baseball kicks off its spring season with nine games against four teams in Jacksonville and Port St. Lucie, from March 5 to March 12.

Kana Daniel and Penn women's tennis have high expectations on the court this season. This weekend, they'll get the chance to back them up. Penn (0-2) hosts Temple (3-2) this Saturday at 1:00 P.M. in the Hecht Tennis Center.

It’s the first time this season that a team other than Penn fencing will face off at the Quakers’ home stage, and if things go Penn’s way, those teams won’t be eager to come back. The Red and Blue host five teams in the Philadelphia Invitational this weekend. Penn will face off against Cornell, Northwestern, Sacred Heart, Temple and Duke in the Coach Dave Micahnik Center.

While everyone was relaxing during winter break, there was no time off for Penn swimming and diving, as both the men's and women's teams took on Dartmouth and Yale in their second Ivy League Tri-Meet of the season.
