OP-ED: I Went The Whole Fling Weekend Without Hearing 'Body.' Here's My Story.

My Fling was just like yours. I pretended to have more fun at parties than I actually did, got the sickest wristband cuff tan, and wouldn’t have been caught dead at the concert. My primary sources of nutrients were Wishbone tenders soaked in Buffalo Bleu sauce with a crisp Green Apple Four Loko to wash it all down, and Magic Gardens running out of liquor was more tragic than the California droughts.

However, this is where our paths diverged. I went the whole Fling weekend without hearing the song “Body” by Loud Luxury.

I don’t really know how this happened. Whenever the entire crowd seemed happier than their classmates on Molly to hear some particular catchy tune, I became distracted. My mom gave me a call, which I somehow, some way answered; my friend pulled trig with me on “holding hair back” duty; I ran out of the party in pursuit of my bed.

However, yesterday I thought, “Hey, I might as well listen to it now. Better late than never, and I want to see what all the hype is about.” So that’s what I did, and let me tell you that I will never be the same.

I’ve been waiting too, too long. There is nothing I want more than that crew love. I don’t know who my crew actually is, but I need love from them. I also don’t know what my body is on, but I do know that my innocence was already lost.

I’ve spent the last six hours straight listening to this song making up for lost time. Thanks for the memories, “Body,” even if they’re being made a bit too late. But let’s be honest: this past weekend, I wouldn’t have remembered them anyway.
