Flyerer of the Week: Penn Players Presents GYPSY

As a completely unbiased news source for only the most hard-hitting journalism, this week, we decided to interview Cassidy Liz, Sam Warrick, and Stephanie Garace, who we sought out bumped into on Locust flyering for this weekends production of "Gypsy." These flyerers are not paid actors, but seriously, they work on the sound and light crew.

So, tell us a little bit about "Gypsy."

Cassidy: "Gypsy" is a show about burlesque strippers from the late 1950s.

Sam: But it’s also about small children singing, so you kind of get the best of both worlds here.

Stephanie: So basically Ariana Grande in a show.

What’s one of the weirdest things that’s happened during rehearsal?

Sam: Ben’s nipple tassels.

Cassidy: Yes, Ben Lerner’s nipple tassels.

Sam: You should definitely come if only for that, if for nothing else.

Along with the nipple tassels, what other reasons should we come see Gypsy?

Sam: These songs have been stuck in my head for like a very, very long time. I went to like one rehearsal, and it’s been downhill from there.

Cassidy: Terrifying cow heads.

Stephanie: Mama Rose is the original diva.

Do you think that being in theater has helped you guys with your flyering experience?

Stephanie: I’m a lot more inclined to make a fool out of yourself, if that’s what you’re asking.

Have you had any interesting flyering experiences?

Cassidy: Aaron [assumed to be a member of the Gypsy production team] backed up, backed his ass up in front of someone, and they actually took the flyer from his pocket.

Sam: We bonded with someone else whose flyers weren’t being taken. We're just here like, “Pleeeeaasssee.”

Do you think that the actors have an easier time flyering?

Cassidy: Yes, because they just, like, sing! I’m sorry I have no talent!

Sam: I’m sorry I can’t like do anything. There’s a reason I’m not on stage.

Do you think singing on the walk is an effective flyering method?

Sam: Yeah, it’s more entertaining than [whiney voice] “Come see Gypsyyy.”

So any last words you’d like to share with the people about Gypsy?

Cassidy: I mean, hot girls?

Sam: Hot girls in corsets.

Cassidy: Hot girls in corsets, and Ben in drag. That’s all you’ll ever need.
