Slow Dance Chubby EP Release Party Who: Slow Dance Chubby When and where: Tonight, 10 p.m.; Smokey Joe's (4oth and Locust) Why: They're a big deal– don't you read 34th Street? SDC lovers old and new get in line for the new EP, Sinkhole. We'll see you there, chubs!

CocoRosie Who: R5 Productions When and where: Wednesday, 8:30 p.m.; Union Transfer (10th and Spring Garden) Why: You know, CocoRosie? It's that thing of when two sisters put on beards and do the baby voices? Tickets are $20.

Bloomers Presents: The International Affair– A Dramatic Nomadic Adventure Who: Bloomers When and where: Thursday-Saturday, 8 p.m.; Class of '49 Auditorium (2nd Floor Houston Hall) Why: Come see Penn's premier all-female Mask and Wig in Houston this week! They make jokes, don't they?

St. Elmo Speakeasy and Open Mic Who: St. Elmo Club When and where: Friday, 7-10 p.m.; 3627 Locust Walk Why: Okay, SO! Poetry on a Friday night doesn't sound that enticing, but wait! There's going to be a smorgasbord of entertainment at the St. Elmo Speakeasy– singing, dancing, canoodling with that kid your housemates are trying their darndest to set you up with– so you should come out on Friday. And with your $5 donation, you'll be supporting the Children's Literacy Initiative of Philadelphia! Snaps.

Strictly Funk Presents: REM– See You In My Dreams... Who: Strictly Funk When and where: Friday and Saturday, 9 p.m.; Iron Gate Theater (37th and Chestnut) Why: Well, because we like Funk a lot. Watch them dance and move and shake that thang! Tickets are $10 on the Walk and $12 at the door. (P.S.: Here's that wet dream joke you were expecting us to make from the show title.)
