Day two begins

For the second day in a row, the first race of the day started before the scheduled time. That's a good thing if you're helping coordinate the Penn Relays schedule, because things always get delayed at some point. If you're a fan (or a reporter), though, it's not as good.

I got here just in time, though, to see Long Island University's Bryan Steele cross the finish line in the first men's 400-meter hurdles heat. His time was 49.98 seconds.

Just as Thursday is dominated by women's races, Friday is primarily men's races. So we'll see lots of high school boys' relays after this event, and the men's 100m sprints as well. Yes, that includes the Masters races, and the ever popular sprint for competitors aged 65 and younger at heart.

But there are also quite a few women's races today, including the college 4x100m Championship of America. Stay tuned for more updates. And like yesterday, the weather is just perfect for running and watching runners, so the best way to take in all the action (other than reading the Buzz, of course) is to come down to Franklin Field and watch it all in person.
