Tennis balls, hockey and the Ivy League: All of that is a match made in heaven, right?

Dartmouth Athletic Director Harry Sheehy asked the student body not to throw tennis balls onto the ice during the Big Green's playoff series against Princeton this past week.

Since 1998, there has been a tradition of throwing tennis balls onto the ice at Dartmouth when the Big Green faces Princeton after the Tigers give up their first goal. The action can lead to a delay of game penalty, which Dartmouth's AD hoped to avoid during the ECAC playoff series.

The fans did not end up throwing the tennis balls onto the ice and the Big Green swept the best-of-three series in two games, moving to face Colgate in the next found.

Here's the full story. Look below for the letter from Dartmouth's AD.
