The School District of Philadelphia announced  on Thursday  that all students in the district will now be eligible for free lunch and breakfast at school.

The gap in the district budget is unaffected because funds for the free meals are provided federally and from the PA Department of Education. The official press release indicated that discontinuing the paper application determining eligibility reduces administrative costs and would allow some food service employees to be relocated.
