RADNOR, Pa. — The race to replace Democratic Sen. Arlen Specter in the Senate is over.
With 99.3 percent of the vote in, Republican Pat Toomey defeated his Democratic opponent Joe Sestak, 51 to 49 percent.
Greeted by a flood of cheers and chants of “Joe, Joe, Joe,” Sestak gave his consolation speech just outside of Villanova University in Radnor, Pa., congratulating his opponent and expressing his thanks to his supporters as well as his constituents.
“I never had a better boss than them,” Sestak said. “I love being a public servant.”
Noting the disappointment in the room, Sestak added that he would run again “even knowing the ending, in a heartbeat.”
