Engineering and College junior Isabel Fan became the newest representative elected to the Undergraduate Assembly Friday night.

Fan was elected as part of the special election held to fill the vacancy left by Engineering junior Emily Shaeffer, who resigned in late September.

A vacated seat on the UA is normally given to the next highest vote-getter in the election for that seat, but all candidates in the Engineering representative race last spring received seats, according to the Nominations and Elections Committee.

NEC Vice Chairman for Elections and College junior Ben Kruger said the special election received a 15-percent voter turnout. Engineering classes of 2011, 2012 and 2013 were eligible to vote because they made up the voting body for the election in the spring.

Fan garnered 96 votes. Engineering sophomore Matt Rosenberg also ran and received 57 votes.
